We are happy to announce that as of December 20, 2017, Dr. Chhour Channara has assumed the role of Executive Director of the Cambodian NGO, Speech and Swallowing Therapy Cambodia (SSTC), our partner organization. Dr. Nara will represent SSTC in Cambodia, working closely with Speech Therapy Cambodia.
Dr. Nara is Vice Administrator of the Preah Sihanouk Raja Geriatric Center, the first center of its kind in Cambodia. Dr. Nara is a neurologist and participated in the first series of dysphagia trainings offered by Speech Therapy Cambodia in 2014. He is married with two children.
We are extremely grateful for the contributions of our outgoing Country Director, Ms. Phivan Norng. Ms. Norng worked closely with our US organization to further our mission in Cambodia: liaising with the Cambodian Ministry of the Interior, meeting with hospital directors, coordinating communications and meetings between the Cambodian organization and our US organization, orienting new volunteers, and so much more. Ms. Norng was at our side for our trainings and workshops doing simultaneous interpreting, as well as translating a multitude of documents and teaching materials into Khmer. We were fortunate find Ms. Norng, and we wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavors.
