This year, our Cambodian clinicians have helped over 800 patients with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia). Twenty-year-old Sophea is one of those patients. In this video, Sophea movingly describes how clinicians trained by Speech and Swallowing Therapy Cambodia (SSTC)–our Cambodian partner organization–helped her throughout her long recovery from a terrible motorbike accident.
“Their input was very helpful because they gave recommendations to me, my family and the doctors,” Sophea says of our team. “I felt very supported and secure having SSTC and the dysphagia clinicians repeatedly follow up and check up on me.”
With the guidance and support of SSTC, Sophea was able to regain her ability to eat safely and to communicate with her friends. SSTC truly changed her life!
After many months, Sophea has recovered significantly after this collaborative team effort. Thank you especially to SSTC-trained dysphagia (swallowing) specialists at Kossamak, nurses Mr. Vantha, and Mr.Boran, and Drs. Sothea and Morokoth.
